Sermon Reflection

Come Back Faith

Abraham believed God could keep His promise even when obedience brought him to the altar. Use this card to reflect on obedience, trust, and the provision God reveals when we lift our eyes.

Hebrews 11:17-19 reminds us that Abraham acted by faith while trusting the God who raises the dead.

Numbers 23:19 reminds us that God does not lie, change His mind, or fail to fulfill what He has spoken.

Obedience

Abraham responded to God with availability: "Here I am." He rose early, prepared the sacrifice, and walked toward the place God showed him.

Key thought: You attract what you entertain.

Genesis 22:1-5 shows Abraham obeying before he had every answer, while declaring, "I and the boy will go over there and worship and come again to you."
Where is God asking for obedience before full understanding?

Trust to live out what God has in front of you

Abraham carried faith tools on the mountain. He was prepared for provision.

Abraham's faith tools

Wood: Carry your own cross. Matthew 16:24-25
Fire: The Holy Spirit and fire. Matthew 3:11
Knife: The Word of God, the sword of the Spirit. Ephesians 6:17

Walking together

Walking together pushes one faster and slows one down.
Walking together encourages you.
Walking together shares the load.
What faith tool do you need to pick back up this week?

Look Up to Look Back

Abraham lifted his eyes and saw the provision that had already been prepared behind him. God revealed the ram at the right moment.

Key thought: The things you love most will be on your altar or become your idol.

Genesis 22:10-14 movement

Raised his eyes.
Looked.
Behold, behind him.
What might God be asking you to surrender so you can see His provision clearly?

Prayer

Lord, give me come back faith. Teach me to obey quickly, trust deeply, and lift my eyes to see the provision You have already prepared. Help me place what I love on the altar without making it an idol. Amen.

Final reflection: Faith does not deny the altar. Faith believes the Provider will meet us there.
